Decorate Your Home With Bargains

Mr.Andrew Caxton

When most people redecorate their homes, they feel they need all new furniture, and are willing to pay a great deal for it. But it's not necessary to go into debt to achieve an elegant look at half the price.

If you're considering redecorating your house – or even just a room of your house – there are many ways to go about. You could hire a professional decorator - but that costs money. You could go to the big home stores and have their own professional designers help you with advice and tips- but they usually like you to purchase furniture or other material from you before they'll help.

But it's not necessary to spend a lot of money to redecorate your house. It all decides what you want your house to look like. If you need a chic, classy-looking house because you do a lot of business entertaining, you will need to invest money for top of the line material. Of course, that pre-supposes that the business people are in the six-figure income bracket and you have to keep up with them.

But there's no reason to drive yourself into debt to redecorate your house when you can obtain excellent furniture for not very much money by hunting for bargains. Properly chosen, and refinished or otherwise modified, this furniture can look just as chic and classy-looking as anything that is brand-spanking new, but with a more lived-in look which will make it a more comfortable arena for you to do your business entertaining.

The thing about doing bargain-hunting is to have an overall plan in mind, but be patient in its education. It will take you a while to find the various pieces, as you'll be visiting garage sales, furniture outlets and other types of places to find furniture you like. You'll be very lucky to get matching pieces in this way, but there's no reason why your furniture or wall furnishings have to match.

In essence, this is called "Cottage decorating," - http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com/styles-guide.html as you'll have an eclectic match of items in your home.

In order to get bargains - you have to know how much money you're saving! So, make sure you go to the top-of-the-line furniture stores, and write down all the prices of the various pieces, and all the features of those pieces. Then, you'll know what to look for when you go out bargain hunting.

Bargain Hunting Basics
Check your local newspapers to find out when garage sales are taking place. They typically take place on the weekends, but some people do like to hold them on Thursdays! Find out what time the sale is to start and make sure you're there on time - because the best items will certainly disappear early. However, don't show up before time - as the homeowner will probably still be rushing around getting ready and might be annoyed at being "pressured' - and so won't give you what you want!

You'll also want to check the newspapers in their classified ads, as people often sell their furniture here as well. It's often of high quality and you can get some excellent bargains.

And once you acquire pieces you want.... you can always sell your old furniture at a garage sale yourself!
